WORCESTER/DENNIS-Jeremiah D. Kelly, 56, died Thursday, April 5, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester. He leaves his wife, Mary (Lally) Kelly; two sons, Roger D. Kelly of Galway and Cyril and his wife Kelly (Hoogasian) Kelly of Worcester; his daughter, Erin Kelly of Galway; his granddaughter, Alyssa Rose Kelly; his father Michael Cyril Kelly of Galway; his brother, Michael Kelly of Galway and a sister, Mary Burke of Galway and many nieces and nephews. His mother, Nora (Kirrane) Kelly predeceased him.
Born in Bridgeport Ct., Jerry spent his youth in Ireland and eventually made his home in the United States. Jerry earned his B.E. in Electronic Engineering, from University College, Galway, Ireland, Certificate in Quality Assurance from Institute of Technology, Galway, Ireland, Diploma in Quality Engineering from Institute of Technology, Galway, Ireland and a Diploma in Management at British Open University.
Jerry's commitment to excellence in his profession paved the way for an impressive career as an executive. His generous nature and instincts to educate and inspire those around him proved to be key qualities present throughout his career and life. Jerry most recently held the position of Chief Information Officer at Avid Technologies.
Throughout his life Jerry was an avid footballer, notably competing for the indoor soccer championships alongside the other great men of the Worcester Irish Club at the Greendale YMCA. Jerry also enjoyed managing and training for a Worcester based Gaelic team in the early 1990's.
Jerry loved the sport of golf. He enjoyed playing with his dear friends regularly at Green Hill Golf Course, Wachusett Country Club, and Captain's Golf Course in Cape Cod. He was also a member of the Galway Bay Golf Club in Oranmore town, Galway, Ireland.
Jerry’s visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, April 11 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 1 W. Boylston St., W. Boylston. His Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 12 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 25 Fales St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
