WORCESTER-Joseph R. “Bob” Hanley, 75, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012 after a 5 year battle with Cancer. He leaves his wife of 53 Years, Jane (Bevan) Hanley; three children, Gary Hanley and his wife Angie of Shrewsbury, Karen Pardee and her companion Lenny Bergstrom and Gregory Hanley of Worcester; two granddaughters, Ashley Gaboriault of Boston and Sarah Pardee of Worcester; a sister, Fran of Pennsylvania and a brother, Harold Hanley of Worcester and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, David and Jack and a sister, Barbara.

Bob was born in Worcester the son of Joseph and Eva (Gagne) Hanley. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School and served in the U.S. Army. Bob worked for Monroe Business Machines for many years before starting his own business, Hanley Calculator & Supply in 1981. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Ernie Girard Classic Bowling league for many years before leaving due to illness. His passion was spending time with his family and camping. He was also a loyal Red Sox and Patriots fan.

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Vincent Hospital Oncology Dept., Dana Farber Cancer Research Center and Affinity Hospice of Life for all the care and compassion they gave to Bob.

Bob’s visiting hours will be on Thursday, April 19 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 20 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home followed by burial in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to Affinity Hospice of Life, 800 Main St., Holden, MA 01520.
