Catherine R. Fay

WORCESTER Catherine R. (Ladden) Fay, 90, formerly of Mower Street and Tatnuck Park died Tuesday, April 24 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center.

Her husband of 55 years, James E. Fay died in 2002. She leaves four children, James E. Fay of Worcester, William J. Fay and his wife Donna M. of West Boylston, Catherine A. Harrington and her husband Dan of Rutland and Ann M. Michaels and her husband Rob M. of Andover; eleven grandchildren, William J. Fay, II and his wife Tamara, Michael J. Fay and his partner, Sven Koppany, Deirdre F. and John K. Donahue, Amy and Jill Harrington, Sarah E. Michaels-Cassidy, Sudha C., Anita F., Smita J. and Jyothi A. Michaels; five great grandchildren, Ella G., Lily G., Alana G. and Maya G. Fay and Devon Henderson; and many nieces and nephews. Her son, Michael J. Fay and her three sisters, Helen M. Brennan, Margaret A. Murphy and Ann T. Jones, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of John J. and Catherine M. (Maloney) Ladden and graduated from Saint Peter’s High School.

Catherine retired several years ago from the former Worcester City Hospital. Prior to that she worked for the Worcester Public Schools and Crompton Knowles. She was a longtime parishioner of Christ the King Church and a member of its Women’s Guild and Social Club. She was also active with the Guild of Our Lady of Providence. Catherine’s true joy in life was her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren

Her funeral will be on Friday, April 27 from Callahan and Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10 AM in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Thursday, April 26 from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Abby's House, 52 High Street, Worcester, 01609.
